Colon hydrotherapy is a procedure that flushes the large intestine with water through a rectal tube, usually in an alternative medicine setting. It is intended to cleanse the bowel, but the colon normally clears itself, and the practice can disrupt fluid and electrolyte balance or injure the bowel.
