Herpes Zoster (Shingles)
Herpes zoster, or shingles, is a reactivation of varicella-zoster virus, the virus that causes chickenpox, after it has remained dormant in sensory nerve tissue. It typically causes a painful, one-sided blistering rash along a nerve distribution and can sometimes lead to persistent nerve pain after the rash heals.
