Thiazolidinediones (TZDs)
Thiazolidinediones are antidiabetic drugs that improve insulin sensitivity, mainly by activating PPAR-gamma receptors in fat and other tissues. They can lower blood glucose in type 2 diabetes by making cells respond better to insulin, but they may also cause weight gain, fluid retention, and other metabolic side effects.
