Penicillins
Penicillins are beta-lactam antibiotics used to treat many bacterial infections. They inhibit bacterial cell-wall synthesis by binding penicillin-binding proteins, which weakens the wall and leads to bacterial death, though allergic reactions are a well-known risk.
