COX-2 Selective Inhibitors
COX-2 selective inhibitors are a subtype of NSAIDs designed to reduce pain and inflammation by preferentially blocking the COX-2 enzyme. By lowering prostaglandin production at sites of inflammation while sparing COX-1 more than traditional NSAIDs, they can relieve pain with less stomach irritation in some people, though cardiovascular risk remains an important consideration.
