Immune

Azathioprine

Azathioprine is an immunosuppressant used to prevent organ rejection and to treat autoimmune diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease and some rheumatologic conditions. It is converted in the body to metabolites that interfere with purine synthesis, limiting the proliferation of rapidly dividing immune cells and thereby reducing immune activity.
