Macular Edema
Macular edema is swelling of the macula, the central region of the retina responsible for detailed vision, caused by leakage of fluid from retinal blood vessels. It commonly occurs with diabetes, retinal vein blockage, inflammation, or after eye surgery and can blur or distort central vision, impairing reading, facial recognition, and other fine visual tasks.
