What is it
This basic blood panel brings Prothrombin Time, Activated Partial Thromboplastin Time, and International Normalized Ratio together for coagulation assessment. Reviewing them as a group helps place each marker in the context of the others rather than viewing any single result alone. Results are interpreted alongside the clinical situation, especially when assessing a medical condition, and can be discussed with a clinician.
What's included
Coagulation Basic brings together plasma-based measurements that describe different parts of a coagulation assessment. Prothrombin Time and International Normalized Ratio are presented together as results reported in different formats: Prothrombin Time uses seconds, while International Normalized Ratio uses a ratio.
Activated Partial Thromboplastin Time adds another coagulation measurement, also reported in seconds. Considered together, these markers provide a concise panel view using the same sample type while preserving the distinct reporting formats for each result.
How to prepare
Fasting is not required before the Coagulation Basic checkup. It can be performed as needed, without a fasting period beforehand.
